𝗡𝗦𝗦 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗥𝗼𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 conducted a “𝗖𝗹𝗼𝘁𝗵 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲” 𝗮𝘁 𝗞𝘂𝘀𝗵𝘁 𝗔𝘀𝗵𝗿𝗮𝗺, 𝗥𝗼𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗲 (a facility that provides shelter and support to individuals affected by leprosy) on 10th May 2023. The initiative was aimed at helping these individuals, who often struggle to afford basic necessities such as clothing.
The NSS volunteers collected donations of new and gently used clothing items from the RIT community and beyond. They also raised funds to purchase additional items to supplement the donations.
On the day of the event, the volunteers set up a temporary distribution center at Kusht Ashram, where they sorted the clothing items by size and type. They then invited the residents of the facility to come and select the items that they needed. The residents were delighted with the opportunity to choose from a wide range of clothing items, including shirts, pants, dresses, and shoes.
The event was a huge success, with over 60 individuals benefiting from the donations. The residents of Kusht Ashram expressed their gratitude to the RIT volunteers and the donors for their generosity. Many of them shared heartwarming stories about how the new clothing items would make a significant difference in their lives.
The clothes distribution camp at Kusht Ashram is just one example of the many community service initiatives that the RIT undertakes throughout the year. The mission is to create a positive impact on society by addressing the needs of underprivileged communities and promoting social awareness and responsibility among students.
